I photographed this mountain lion swimming across a pond during one of my wildlife workshops. When action is taking place, it's so easy to forget to quickly glance around the frame to make sure you've got the composition you want. For example, had I zoomed in for a tighter framing, I might have cropped out the full reflection of the cat's head. That would have been unfortunate. So, even when things are happening fast, be aware of the entire frame. It takes only a fraction of a second to ascertain whether or not the framing is correct. My settings were 1/1000, f/7.1, and 500 ISO. When photographing wildlife, it's especially important to have the camera's settings exactly where you want them. Once the action starts, it's too late to make changes or you'll miss best shots.
