On Caddo Lake during the Louisiana Swamp tour that just ended we came upon a baby raccoon. It was scurrying through the thick vegetation, and for only a few brief moments did it look at us through the Spanish moss. My settings reflect how dark it was -- 1/640, f/7.1, and 4000 ISO. I used the 500mm end of my Canon 100-500mm zoom. I now shoot almost exclusively on manual exposure mode and vary the exposure by moving the ISO up and down with a back wheel on the body of my Canon R5. In the past, I'd never do this, but now with the ability to mitigate noise in post-processing, I don't hesitate to use extremely high ISO settings. This enables photographers to get shots in low light situations that heretofore was impossible to capture.
