I photographed this wild dog in South Africa in the private reserve of Sabi Sabi. Unlike national parks, in a private reserve there are no restrictions as to where vehicles can go. My photo tour group and I were chasing a pack of dogs as they were hunting, and for only a brief couple of seconds -- or less -- this animal posed beautifully for the camera. It was there and then gone. I was lucky the autofocus system, and my reaction time, was fast enough to capture a sharp picture. I used a 500mm focal length plus a 1.4x teleconverter giving me 700mm of focal length. This picture is uncropped. The settings were 1/1000, f/5.6, and 1600 ISO.
