This is an agama lizard I photographed in Namibia. I wanted to fill the frame by using a Canon 500mm f/4 telephoto, but the minimum focusing distance with this lens is about 14.5 feet. Therefore, I placed one extension tube (which I always carry with me for situations like this) between the camera body and the lens, and that enabled me to focus as close to the lizard as I wanted. I used a tripod because the reptile was perfectly motionless, and my settings were 1/60, f/14, and 1000 ISO. I would have used a smaller lens aperture, but that would have increased the ISO. This shot was taken in 2013 and noise was still a problematic issue.
