I think this is one of the prettiest staircases in Europe. It's in the St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel in London. There are many, many compositions depending on which floor you're shooting from. I used a 16mm wide angle lens for this picture and for every shot I took of the staircase. The wide view enhanced and even exaggerated the beautiful lines of the architecture. I'm returning to this hotel at the end of March and I'll try my Sigma f/1.8 14mm lens because I think the pictures will be even more dramatic. The light level was low as you can see by the settings: 1/50, f/4.5, and 10,000 ISO. The reason I purchased the Sigma 14mm was because of its large maximum aperture. In low light interiors, the f/1.8 aperture enables me to use a much lower ISO which translates to better picture quality.

John Vanore - Looks like the color temperature does not match the indoor lighting and particularly the incandescent lights. Can the image be taken to reduce the overall brightness of the lights and reflect the actual color tones? Regards Jim, I will have to check this out.
