I don’t show my unusual (aka strange and bizarre) images from either photographic manipulation or AI very often, but when I do, I think many of you assume I was dropped on my head as a baby! Maybe that accounts for my exceptionally wide range of images I like creating. When I made this image of a alien-like animal yesterday, I have to admit it rose to the top of my all-time favorites. That’s probably a result of brain damage, I admit it. In Midjourney, you can combine images and end up with surprising and intriguing combinations. For this one, I combined a shot of a snow leopard I’d taken during my annual Winter Wildlife Workshop in Montana and a fractal. A fractal is a compelling abstract image derived from an underlying mathematical formula. I used the iPad software program ‘Frax’ to create the fractal. What made me think of combining a shot of an animal with a fractal? Again, probably brain damage. This would not occur to most normal people. The results were amazing, but when I asked Midjourney for additional iterations and made further tweaks, I was amazed by what I got. In post-processing, I used Topaz Gigapixel AI to increase the native resolution of MJ from 3.45 megabytes to 124 megs (a 6x magnification), and then I applied Topaz Sharpen AI. Finally, I used Photoshop's 'Image size' dialogue box to change the original 72 dpi resolution to 300 dpi. At the same time, I made the dimensions 30 x 20 inches which gave me the final image size of 154 megabytes.

Barbara Vickers - Jim - you are giving 'brain damage' a good name. That's a fantastic picture!
