This is an eastern screech owl, red phase, I photographed during a raptor workshop sponsored by the Midwest Photography Workshops in Detroit. I took this in a forest in Ontario, Canada, and although the sun was out during midday, the thickness of the foliage caused diffused light on the lower levels of the forest, fortunately. This minimized contrast. I used a 500mm focal length which provided great bokeh in the background, and the settings were 1/1000, f/7.1, and 5000 ISO. In post-processing, I used Topaz DeNoise AI to mitigate the noise.
