One of the things that I find remarkable about birds is how fast they process information as they fly. For example, this superb starling from Kenya is perched on a thorn bush with deadly looking thorns that could easily impale the bird if it made a slight error in landing. And what about the very first time it lands on a bush like this? There is no room for error! I used a Canon 500mm f/4 telephoto with a 2x teleconverter giving me 1000mm of focal length for this shot. I used a tripod, and my settings were 1/200, f/8, 200 ISO.
