La Fenice Theater is an icon in Venice. It dates from 1792, although it's been re-built due to a devastating fire in 1996. It is incredibly ornate, and I bring my photo tour groups here to capture the sumptuous interior. All of the great Italian operas have been, and still are, performed here. This picture was taken from the second story balance where the most the elegant boxes are located. I used a 14mm ultra wide angle lens, and then I composited the model in the center. I had to create a base for her, so I cut and pasted that in several pieces to make a believable shelf on which the model appears to be sitting. I punched the color and contrast for maximum visual impact. Many times composites like this one don't occur to me until after-the-fact, and that can happen years later. This is why I shoot a lot of components or pieces of subjects; I never know when they will get used.
