Sometimes you can photograph the most mundane subjects and, with post-processing techniques, turn the images into works of art. This table and chairs I found in the Provence region of France was nothing out of the ordinary, but I applied Topaz Simplify 4 to it to give the image a watercolor feel, and then I added significant color saturation in Photoshop using the pulldown menu command Image > adjustments > hue/saturation. The original, to be honest, is boring, but the painterly version is, to me, beautiful. I took the picture knowing what I was going to do with it. If you can previsualize what various plug-ins can do to embellish your digital captures, you can see these kinds of opportunities as you walk around with camera in hand.
