I just finished my Abandoned in Georgia photo tour, and for this wide angle shot of an abandoned mental hospital that opened in 1842, I converted the original color image into black and white using the Photoshop pull down menu command, Image > adjustments < black and white. This allows you to tweak each color in the image separately with respect to the monochromatic tonal values. For example, I made the blue sky black for drama and lightened the green and yellowish foliage to look similar to black and white infrared. I then added clarity and contrast for additional visual punch. My settings were 1/125, f/16, and 640 ISO. Unfortunately, this building is scheduled to be demolished sometime this year. The original name of this hospital -- remember, this is from 1842 -- was The Georgia State Hospital for Lunatics, Idiots, and Epileptics.
