So many people responded to yesterday's post, so I'm uploading another picture taken in the same Tianzi Mountains. This is sunrise, and of course what adds drama to a very dramatic and surreal landscape are the low clouds. They were moving extremely fast through the rugged terrain, and it was totally magical. My photo tour group got up at 4am to get to this very special vantage point before the selfie-stick people got there. The exposure was tricky because the clouds would obscure the sun in varying degrees, and it was changing all the time. In 1984, I climbed to this area with a 40 pound backpack and walking up 15,000 stone steps. Now there is a cable car that brings you very close to the hotel -- and the views from the car are fantastic. My camera settings were 1/15, f/22, and 640 ISO. I used a 24-105mm lens, and this shot was taken with 85mm.
