This is another picture of Whitby Abbey in England. A few days ago I posted a sunrise shot of it, but this one was taken in the early afternoon. Instead of using a wide angle lens to encompass a large portion of the ruins, I used a 7-frame panorama composite. A wide angle lens would have angled the vertical lines inward; in other words, keystoning would have been obvious and, in my opinion, not as good as having the vertical lines of the medieval architecture parallel with the sides of the frame. More and more I'm finding panos to be very useful in rendering scenes with minimal vertical distortion. There is still distortion, as can be seen in the curvature of the structure at the top left, but I prefer this to keystoning. My settings for each frame were 1/250, f/22, and 800 ISO.
