My photography tour in Kenya began today, and I'm excited to be back here. There are a lot of things to think about when photographing wildlife, and that's what makes it so fantastic when it all comes together with a great shot. The challenge is that you have to integrate all of these things at the same time as things happen fast. For example, one of the important aspects of autofocus is that it can be fooled. In this shot of a cheetah, for example. AF mechanisms would most likely lock onto the grasses in front of the cat and leave the subject blurred. The solution is to switch the AF off and focus the old fashioned way -- manually. If your eyes are not as good as they used to be and critical focus is hard to determine, move the focus ring back and forth and choose the point where the focus seems to be the sharpest.
