This is a wild baby golden snub-nosed monkey I photographed during one of my photo tours to China. The monkeys live in the snowy mountain ranges and are drawn to lower elevations by the bananas rangers leave for them twice a day. They are extremely fast, especially the babies when they are playing. What I find so remarkable about these primates is the intense blue/cyan color of their faces and the fact that they have no protruding nasal bones in their noses. I captured this image during a momentary lull in playtime. I used a 560mm focal length to fill the frame with the beautiful face. My settings were 1/500, f/8, and 1000 ISO. In this national park there is a boardwalk that encircles a large area of trees, and this makes it easy to observe and photograph the monkeys without traipsing through a cluttered forest floor.

Denise Monaghan - Hello, I am a painter and I would love to paint this beguiling little fellow. I am working on a series of baby animals. I would give photo credit, of course. Thanks for considering! Love the photo!
