Skulls and other bones of animals can make intriguing pictures especially when photographed in a natural environment. This is a peccary skull I captured in Costa Rica. The photographic considerations here are: (1) use complete depth of field, (2) look for diffused light or low angled sunlight, and (3) use a tripod so the lens aperture can be small without consideration of the shutter speed being too slow. Skulls can sometimes be found when hiking, and they can also be purchased online and then arranged in a complementary setting with plants, rocks, etc. For this shot, the lodge in which my photo tour group and I were staying had the skull on a shelf and I asked if I could photograph it.
