I am intrigued by blue animals. It is such an unusual color in nature, and I find any form of blue visually arresting. This cyan-colored panther chameleon is native to Madagascar, although I photographed it during one of my semi-annual frog and reptile workshops in a captive environment in St. Louis. I used the diffused light from a ring flash to illuminate the reptile, and for the replacement background I chose a picture of foliage in diffused light made out of of focus by taking the camera off autofocus and simply turning the focusing ring on the lens. I also cloned out the reflection of the flash in the eye. My settings were 1/200, f/32, and 400 ISO. My next macro workshop of the frogs and reptiles will be June 12-13 this summer.
