Bryce Canyon is one of the most stunning landscapes on earth, but it's not really easy to photograph such that a viewer gets a sense of how amazing it is. It's easy to do tight, graphic shots of the unique shapes, and everyone does that. A simple shot with a wide angle lens of a large canyon area just doesn't really convey what you see and feel when standing on the rim. I try to include an interesting foreground to give a sense of depth, and that works well, but the truth is that I've never seen a photograph that gives you the remarkable feeling of standing there looking at a fairyland of orange and pink rock formations. Maybe that in and of itself tells you how special this place is. This is a 5-frame HDR composite taken with Canon's 11-24mm wide angle lens and f/22.

Jim - Galliapix, It takes a long time in photography to really be happy with what you capture. But just keep in mind that our lenses don't see things like our eye/brain combination does. We just don't capture what we see, and we certainly don't capture our feelings.

galliapix - Hi jim, I share your feeling. Having driven my 18 wheeler many times on I-70 E. between I-15 and Green River, there are a few rest areas well situated where you can experience this vastness. I also remember the disapointment when I would get the pics back from the lab. Although they were good, they would never translate the original awe I had felt.
