I saw these dancers posing with tourists in one of the temples in Angkor Wat, and it was impossible to get pictures of them like you see here because they were surrounded by dozens of people wanting their picture taken next to these models. None of the other tourists were looking for artistic pictures of the dancers that represented a beautiful aspect of Cambodian culture. I asked my local guide if he could arrange a private session with the costumed models, and he did. I requested that we meet the next morning at 6:30 at a location of my choice, and I scouted the area and found this lovely doorway with lichen growing on the ancient structure. i speciifically chose very early in the morning to avoid other tourists. For this picture, I stood at the bottom of the steps on the wet grass (it rained off and on) and shot upward with a 24-105mm lens. The original trees seen through the doorway were distracting because the trunks were strong vertical lines that drew attention away from the subjects, plus you could see some of the white sky through the branches. So, I cloned in a more uniform tree minus the sky. The settings for this were 1/200, f/10, 1600 ISO, and I hand held the camera.
