This is probably the most challenging composite I've ever done. There were too many steps in Photoshop to explain. This is a Maine coon cat combined with a costume I photographed during one of the Carnival in Venice photo tours I led. I should have replaced the gloved hand with a cat's paw, but I didn't have one in my files that matched the color of this particular cat. I'd like to do a series of cats in exotic costumes, but I need more pictures of domestic cats (a tiger, leopard, lion or jaguar wouldn't be caught dead in a costume like this). In planning to do more of these in the future, I'll photograph cats against a plain background, probably black, and from different angles so I have a variety of possibilities. I used flash for the portrait of this cat, but now I prefer soft and diffused light. That means the costumes must have been taken in the same kind light. In this composite, the flash on the cat and the soft light on the costume don't really mix well, but that's all I had in my files. Now that I see the potential, I'll be able to photograph components with a clear vision in mind.
