A neighbor of mine has a brother-in-law who flies helicopters for the army. A few years ago on his way back to a nearby army base, the pilot flew past our subdivision and hovered for a few seconds. I took some pictures, but the problem was the sky was solid white due to a low overcast. Not to be outdone by reality, I composited the helicopter with an amazing napalm-like explosion I photographed during an air show in Smyrna, Tennessee. I had just purchased my first serious digital camera in 2005 -- the Canon 1Ds Mark II -- and the 4 frames per second (which was much faster than the one frame per second I could get by hand cranking my medium format film camera) allowed me to capture three good pictures of the explosion. The noise of this camera was still a significant issue, so I used a low ISO. Consequently, my shutter speed -- although fast -- wasn't as fast as it would be if I were shooting today to freeze the helicopter blades. My settings for the aircraft were 1/800, f/5.6, and 200 ISO.

Barbara Vickers - "...napalm in the morning..." Jim, can you tell me why the Zoom meetings show one as a mirror image but the camera doesn't? Thanks.
