There is an area in Cape Town, South Africa, that is characterized by super saturated colorful houses. The architecture and the brilliant colors make amazing pictures, and when my photography group visited we found an old blue car parked on the street in perfect juxtaposition with one of my favorite color combinations -- green and magenta. Fortunately, clouds provided diffused light so highlight and shadow patterns didn’t interfere with the strong graphic designs. My settings were 1/320, f/16, and 1250 ISO. I took this with a 24-105mm lens set to 90mm, and I used a small lens aperture to make sure both the car and the background were sharp. The distance from the car to the door of the green house was about 15 to 18 feet, and even with a medium telephoto that necessitated the small lens opening to insure complete depth of field.

Jo R - Bo Kaap is an amazing place. The people who live there are ordinary and extraordinary. They have to put up with the tourists who come and invade their cramped space. Amazingly, they are still friendly. The world could learn a lot from the people of the cape.

April Austin - The scene looks like a Warner Brothers cartoon -- doesn't seem real. If I lived there I would put a bright orange planter on top of the magenta corner post :)
