This is the bottom of a spiral staircase in a mall in Barcelona, and I thought the graphic design was exceptional. Window light illuminated the architecture perfectly. However, the colors were boring. Off-white and beige. So, I decided to take artistic license and introduce the complementary colors of purple and green using the hue/saturation dialog box in Photoshop. That made all the difference. I used a 35mm focal length, and my settings were 1/80, f/5.0, and 3200 ISO. Even though the lens aperture is relatively large, the extensive depth of field comes from the wide angle lens. I'm on a quest to photograph spiral and dramatic staircases, and the introduction of color allows me to make them even more beautiful than they already are.
