Shooting from a low angle gives a subject greater stature. This applies to small children, both large and small animals, and many other subjects. I photographed this cheetah on my recent photo tour to Namibia, and because the cat was on an elevated mound of dirt, it was above my eye level and that forced me to shoot upward. Besides the increased stature (which translated into a striking pose), the sky became the background instead of a bunch of bushes that would have interfered with the wonderful graphic shape of the cheetah.
