I photographed this 15th century fortress in County Mayo, Ireland. I am always looking for a dominant and striking foregrounds when shooting landscapes or seascapes, so my photo tour group and I were lucky to have this colorful boat lying in the perfect position for a great composition. I used a 16-35mm lens for this shot in which the lens was set to 16mm. Although wide angle lenses inherently have extensive depth of field, when foreground elements are this close to the camera, DOF will be lost. In other words, you have to use the smallest lens aperture possible to maintain focus throughout the image -- notwithstanding focus stacking. I shot this image with a tripod, and the settings were 1/15, f/22, and 200 ISO.
