I've seen a lot of beautiful skies in my travels, but none as visually arresting and ultra dramatic as in Patagonia. I've been there several times, and I've seen all kinds of weather. On one particular late afternoon it was so surreal, so amazing, that I couldn't stop shooting. As the clouds changed, I took dozens of images. When sunset colors infused the clouds, it was like drama on top of drama. I had never seen anything like it. When this incredible scene happened, my photo tour group and I were looking for Andean condors. The mountain range near us wasn't impressive at all, so I combined the sunset sky with the famous Paine massif in Torres del Paine National Park in Chile which was a few miles away. I'm sure the sky could be seen from this vantage point, but we couldn't be in two places at the same time (those pesky laws of physics are annoying). My settings for the landscape were 1/160, f/8, and 400 ISO. I used a 24-105mm zoom for the shot.
