One of the most beautiful and eerie landscapes I've ever seen is the Dallol Depression in Ethiopia. The brilliant colors, the fantasy-like formations, and the desolate surroundings made me feel like I was on a distant planet. When I was there, it was 104 degrees (40 C) but the photography was so amazing I didn't mind the temperature. I used a 16mm focal length placed about 3 feet away from the immediate foreground to exaggerate the perspective and make the foreground disproportionately large compared to the background. My settings were 1/400, f/16, and 1000 ISO. These colors were not exaggerated or altered in post-processing. This is exactly what this place looks like.
