I photographed these four white rhinos in Lake Nakuru National Park, Kenya. The environment in which the animals were grazing wasn’t very attractive, so I meticulously selected them as a group using Photoshop’s pen tool and then pasted that into a landscape taken in the Masai Mara National Park. I then carefully selected individual grasses and pasted them in front of the rhinos’ feet to create the realistic impression that the ponderous feet were somewhat hidden by the tall grass. Finally, with the burn tool, I created shadows on the ground to match the type of lighting in the scene.

Rohinton Mehta - Jim, you are a magician! I love (and envy) the way you can use the Pen Tool in Photoshop to make realistic cut-outs.
