I made this image from two photographs. The wing is from the avian collection in the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles, and I photographed it once and then mirrored it. The background is a picture of the sun's reflection on the ocean as seen from Haleakala Crater on Maui in Hawaii (I shot this in the summer of '69 -- my first year of photography). For the ethereal body of the angel, I proscribed a long oval selection using the elliptical marque tool and then feathered the edge 40 pixels with Select > modify > feather. I then used the pulldown menu command Edit > fill and filled the selection with white.

Cookie - The 100 acres I live on is my "church" and nature still surprises me, but this gives me "goosebumps".
Beautiful, Cookie
