Happy Halloween! The forest in this composite was taken about 40 miles south of Venice, Italy, at dawn. The blue color comes from the daylight white balance setting (i.e. the camera’s response to a high Kelvin temperature). The model has been mirrored, thus she is perfectly symmetrical. I explain how to create streaks of light in my Next Level Photoshop online training, but they are essentially blurred and stretched white dots on a black background. Notice the light streaks emanate from the lamppost as they should. This adds ‘credence’ to the scene. The streaks were combined with the landscape using the screen blend mode. I added the black leopard and the tarantula and then colored them to match the environment using Image > adjustments > color balance. I photographed the human skeleton in a museum of anthropology in Mexico City. You can see this ancient person died from blows to the skull. Finally, I used the plugin ‘Flood’ to create the small body of water at the foot of the model.
