It is risky to do HDR when a person in the composition because if they move, ghosting will occur and that will degrade the photograph. When I photographed this young monk in front of the Buddha, I asked him to be very still, of course, but at the same time I offered suggestions as to how a young boy can accomplish this. I told him to hold his breath and, at the same time, to lean against the wall. This enabled him to be as still as humanly possible.
I used Photomatix software to assemble the three images for the HDR composite. I chose a 24-105mm lens set to 35mm, and I stabilized the camera with a tripod so the bracketed images would align perfectly.
I photographed this in Bagan, Burma (Myanmar)
