This is an experiment with one of the snowy owl pictures I took during my annual winter workshop last month in Canada. The original background was a totally white sky. I selected the owl using Topaz Remask 5 so I could retain the fine detail in the tips of the feathers. I then pasted a winter landscape into the background. With the landscape layer selected in the layers palette, I then applied Filter > blur > motion blur. This is a way to imply motion in a still photograph. It is impossible to capture this kind of image with a single exposure. If the shutter speed was fast enough to freeze the owl, then the background obviously would not be blurred like this. My settings for the bird were 1/3200, f/11, 1250 ISO.

Bob - Thanks, Jim. I will look into the ones you list, but definitely Remask seems like a must have filter to accomplish difficult selections.

Jim - Yes -- I love Topaz Impression, and for wild surrealism and artistry, Topaz Glow. I also like and use Topaz Adjust 5.

Bob Vestal - The motion effect makes an interesting image. In addition to Topaz Remask (now 6 on Topaz website), are there other Topaz filters that you consider particularly useful?
