I took this photo at dawn in Turkestan, a city in Kazakhstan. The contrast was so extreme between the sky and the face of the wall that I had to use a 7-frame HDR composite. Even at this time of the morning, contrast can be extreme. The greater the contrast, the greater number of frames are needed to produce a composite with a good exposure in both the highlights and the shadows. I did not enhance the colors in this picture at all. The sky was this intense. My settings were f/10 and 400 ISO . The shutter speed varied per the HDR exposures. I use one f/stop increments between the frames, and I shot this picture with a 24-105mm lens.
