The main attraction on my Pantanal tour in Brazil is jaguars in the wild, and we see many of them. There are other animals we photograph, too. This is a capybara, the largest rodent in the world. In other words, it is a really big rat! They make up about 30% of the jaguar diet. The friend hitching a ride is a cattle tyrant, one of the many exotic birds that live in this area. I took the shot with a Canon 500mm f/4 telephoto, and my settings were 1/320, f/11, and 640 ISO. I hand held the camera because I was shooting from a low profile boat, and a tripod in a boat doesn't make sense. Also, I have maximum maneuverability when hand holding. I even find a monopod inhibiting.

Jim - Hi Lorraine, It's great to hear from you. I didn't know about your leg accidents. I'm really sorry. You can always get into flying a drone and taking pictures from above. It's awesome, and you an do it right from the vehicle. With respect to the capybara, I didn't watch him for long. The bird just landed on his head and stayed for about seconds.

Lorraine Piskin - Jim, when I open this picture of this rodent, all I could say is OMG!!! And the first one is amazing. How long did you stay watching this fella? oh boy If I didn’t have two accidents involving my legs In three years, I would’ve wanted to go on this kind of a Travel experience. I’m glad that you continue to astound me. Knowing you’re in the field, makes me very happy for you and dear. Dia. The only thing I possibly can do at this stage of my life is another round of frogs.
