This is my third favorite picture from Africa. I captured this in Namibia at Na'ankuse, a wonderful organization that is devoted to protecting wildlife. If a predator kills a farmer's livestock, the typical human response is to kill the predator. The people at Na'ankuse trap the animal and move it to their property for protection and breeding. They have 65,000 acres, so the captive animals live as normal a life as possible in the bush. This picture shows the owner of the facility, Marlice, having an intimate moment with Kiki, a cheetah she raised from a cub in her home ( it's mother had been killed). She finally moved Kiki outdoors to live with the other cheetahs when she noticed it started stalking her four year old son. I set this shot up on the crest of a mound specifically to shoot from a low angle at sunset. I took this with a 70-200mm lens, and my settings were 1/800, f/7.1, and 200 ISO. Notice I blocked the sun with the hind legs of the cat so the brilliant hotspot wouldn't dominate the picture.
