My photography tour group and I photographed the Jember Fashion Carnival today, and thanks to my wife, Dia, we got VIP passes to take pictures of the participants putting make up on and preparing for the parade. We were in a large room lit by some kind of energy saving light bulbs, and it turned out that daylight white balance worked well. This is a beautiful young lady in a particularly stunning costume, and the diffused light was perfect. There were a few highlights that could be seen behind her through the various open sections in her headdress, and I selected those areas and filled them with a very dark blue color. My settings were 1/200, f/5.0, and 5000 ISO, and I used a 100-500mm Canon telephoto so I could shoot from a distance and not make her feel uncomfortable with a big camera and a foreigner encroaching on her space.
