I usually don't like to photograph gore, and I rarely show it in my posts. However, the pose of the leopard in this shot and the intense stare makes this a strong image in my opinion and I wanted to share it. I captured this at the private game lodge, Sabi Sabi, in South Africa. I don't like to crop my images, so I used a Canon 500mm telephoto to fill most of the frame with the cat. Of all the animals in Africa, the number one group everyone wants to see are the cats, and at the top of that list are leopards. It's always a thrill to see one, and if it happens to be in a photogenic location and pose, it's very exciting. My settings were 1/250, f/4, 8000 ISO. You can tell by the high ISO setting that it was quite dark. In fact, night was approaching and I was shooting quickly so I didn't lose what little light I had.
