Luna moths are native to the eastern United States. Mint green is one of my favorite colors, so I am particularly drawn to this species. I originally photographed it on tree bark, but I wanted to add visual impact by introducing some color and design. Using a combination of the quick selection tool and the lasso tool, I made a precise selection around the moth and then replaced the background with the flower image. The feathery antennae were a bit of a challenge, but working at 200% with the clone tool at the juncture between the edge of the antennae and the background, I gently blended them together with 25% opacity on the tool setting. The camera numbers for the shot of the moth were 1/160, f/32, and 1000 ISO. I used a Canon 50mm macro lens for the picture.
