Wild macaws in flight are a wonderful spectacle to see. You can hear them from quite a distance because they like to communicate with each other when airborne. Usually they fly in pairs. These are red and green macaws, and they are much easier to photograph in flight than other species because they are relatively slow fliers and their wings don't flap nearly as fast as many small birds. Still, I erred on the side of caution and used my standard shutter speed for birds in flight, 1/3200th of a second. That guarantees that even the wing tips will be sharp. My focal length was 700mm, and I used an aperture of f/10 with 2500 ISO. The birds flew in front of a group of trees which were distracting, so I replaced the sky.
