I am now conducting the third of my three tours in a row -- Texas Birds and Bluebonnets. In the hill country west of Austin, just like North and South Carolina, there had been unusually warm weather in February and the wildflowers bloomed early. So, we were two weeks late for prime color. There are still wonderful fields to photograph, but sometimes they weren't in the places I expected. This is called the Bluebonnet house in Marble Falls, Texas, because this abandoned structure is surrounded by bluebonnets and Indian paintbrush during peak color. When I photographed it yesterday, all the flowers had gone to seed. So, I took a beautiful field of flowers that were growing about a quarter mile away and placed them in front of the house. I did this using a layer mask in Photoshop. To have complete depth of field with the flowers, I used the in-camera focus stacking command within the Canon R5. The original sky wasn't bad, but I replaced it because I like this one better.
