The original sky in this photo was white. I shot this with a 15mm fisheye lens to exaggerate and distort the lines of the architecture, but the white sky was quite distracting. I've written about this before, but it bears repeating. You should have a folder of stormy and overcast skies specifically to use in situations like this. The light was soft and diffused from the overcast sky, but the sky was featureless. I used Photoshop to insert a sky of storm clouds, and what a huge difference it makes! The storm clouds would also produce diffused light, so they make sense photographically. You always have to match a replacement background with the lighting on the foreground.
This is a sculpture in La Defense, an ultra modern area of Paris. I shot this on my recent photo tour to Paris and London. This was the first place in La Dense where I brought my group because I think the composition is so unique.
