When my photo tour group and I walked inside the historic parts of several medieval French towns, there were many amazing examples of 14th and 15th century buildings that were still standing, but barely. This architecture in Quimper, a small town in Brittany, illustrates this perfectly. Over the centuries, the weight of the building has gradually deformed the supporting timbers until an imminent collapse seems certain. It probably isn't -- who knows, maybe these buildings can survive another 3 or 4 centuries -- but I wouldn't want to live or work in structures like this. I used a 24-105mm lens for this shot, and my settings were 1/250, f/4, an 320 ISO.
