On a safari, you spend so much time on bumpy roads and have to deal with thick vegetation, challenging lighting, and other vehicles. So when things fall into place and everything is perfect, it's an exciting moment. We followed this mother leopard and her large cub as they walked along a ravine, and it was endearing to see the cub still wanting to be close to its mother. I love the cub's tail and how it arcs over the mother's back. The overcast light was ideal -- with this kind of light, you can shoot all day long without concern of contrast or tough exposures due to harsh light. Kenya is on the Equator, and that means the first 10 minutes of sunrise is stunning, the next 20 minutes is very good, and after that the light gets harsher by the minute. My settings for this shot were 1/640, f/7.1, and 2500 ISO. I used a 70-200mm along with a 1.4x teleconveter. This picture was taken with a 250mm focal length.
