Upon seeing this image you are probably thinking that: 1) I have discovered a new cool animal species in some far distant corner of the globe, or 2) I have entirely lost my marbles and should be committed to a mental institution, willing or not, as soon as possible, or 3) I am a Russian agent spreading disinformation in the nature photography community, or 4) I am seriously bored with life! Admittedly, it’s a little strange that I can love images of little girls and puppies and, at the same time, get excited by renditions of bizarre creatures that exist only in legends. This is a cryptid, an animal that cryptozoologists believe might exist somewhere in the wild but haven’t proven it yet – like Big Foot and the Loch Ness Monster. Cryptozoology is considered a pseudoscience; it looks at anecdotal stories for proof that legendary and mythical animals really exist. I enjoy creating visuals that might possibly bridge the gap between myth and reality. My prompts were: “cryptid with wolf-like face, large bat-like wings, large claws, ornate horns, in a spooky forest, hyper detail, super sharp, shallow depth of field --ar 2:3”.
Tomorrow’s post will be equally wild but in a different direction.
