Nine days ago I posted a twilight image of Manarola, one of the villages on the Cinque Terre Coast of Italy, and I'm now conducting a second tour to this beautiful region. This gives me an opportunity to shoot from different vantage points, like this dramatic angle of Manarola. Twilight is short, and unfortunately we can't be everywhere at once. Revisiting a place gives you a chance to think about how you'd like to approach it differently. I used a 3-frame HDR composite with two f/stop increments between shots. In ACR post-processing, to bring the colors to life, I used clarity, vibrance, and a touch of saturation. I also moved the shadows slider all the way to the right to lighten the darker parts of the photograph, and then I moved the highlights slider most of the way to the left to deal with a few hot spots that came from lights on poles. I shot this with daylight white balance, but in post I moved the temperature slider toward the blue to reduce the yellowish tones and inject more of the cooler colors. My settings were four seconds, f/2.8, 200 ISO, and I used Canon's 16-35mmm III set to 35mm.
