When you make a painterly image out of a photograph, the edges of most of the subjects are softened, blurred, or abstracted. That means if the original image that is converted to a painting is a composite, you don't have to worry about how precise the edges are when one component meets another. In the case of this wrought iron bicycle, I cloned the flowers into the pots without concern for how believable the edges were. That enabled me to put this image together in seconds because I knew the end result was going to be an abstracted painterly image. This is a garden fixture that sits in front of my house. The plugin I used to create this effect was Topaz Simplify.
