In the southwestern part of China there are vast rice terraces that took centuries to build, and when they are flooded with water the reflections are remarkable. The curvaceous contour patterns of the terraces make great pictures especially with the right lighting. This is a sunrise shot in January. My photo tour group were shooting from an elevated observation platform, and given the distance from our location to the terraces, depth of field wasn't a consideration. Any lens aperture would produce the same amount of focus, and I opted for a relatively large one so I could hand hold the camera. I used a 70-200mm telephoto along with a 1.4x teleconverter giving me 280mm of focal length. The settings were 1/100, f/4.0, and 500 ISO.
