There are three things about this portrait that make it different. First, I used the 16mm focal length on a 16-35m wide angle lens and shot from just two feet away, making the Masai girl in Kenya disproportionately large. Second, I replaced the sky with storm clouds to add drama and to provide complete depth of field. I used f/10 here which would not have given me this kind of DOF because I was so close to the foreground. And third, I cropped this image in a very different kind of way in which I eliminated the girl's eyes and nose. This allows us to focus solely on her smile and her incredible necklaces.
