This is dramatic Spider Rock in Canyon de Chelly National Monument in Arizona. The 14mm lens I used shows the context of the environment, but the price I paid in using such a wide lens was that the huge spire seems much smaller than it appears to the eye. Still, the entire landscape is beautiful and that's what I wanted to capture. I took this picture the moment the sun rose above the eastern horizon, and the star effect comes from the combination of a wide angle lens along with a small lens aperture. I didn't use any filter. This is a 5-frame HDR image, thus I was able to capture full detail in both the highlights and the shadows. My settings were 1/5, f/16, and 320 ISO.
