A beautiful natural area of Montana that I rarely see shot by other photographers is Jerusalem Rocks. It is close to the Canadian border, and at sunset the low angled sun skims the top of the unique formations creating a stunning landscape. I took this picture with film in the 90's, and this was before HDR and before we had layers in Photoshop. In order to make a perfect exposure on both the sky and the rocks, I made a compromise exposure and then in Photoshop used the dodge tool to lighten the rocks. I then selected the sky and reduced exposure to make it look correct using Image > adjustments > levels. I shot this with the Mamiya 7, a 43mm lens (equivalent to about a 21mm lens in the full-frame digital format), 1/2 second, f/32, and Fujichrome Velvia 50. I focused to a point approximately eight feet away, and in combination with the small aperture, this gave me maximum depth of field.
